How to Deal With the Tragic Loss of Your Dog

Dogs are men’s best friend and that is absolutely true. your dog lives with you, plays with you, eats with you, makes you smile at your worst time, makes you feel safe, keeps you warm at times – so many emotions you go through when you have a dog at home. They are god sent and we know how hard it is to live when this precious thing leaves forever.

Coping with the loss of your dog is a very tragic thing you have to do and it’s real hard. We have seen people going through trauma and depression due to the loss of their dogs and we don’t want any such things should happen to you. Here is why, we have come up with some of the ways to deal with the loss of your beloved dog –

  1. Say Goodbye – We know it’s really hard but you must learn to say goodbye to him or her. The memory will always remain sweet and intact forever but you need to make sure that you don’t let yourself get carried away. To keep the memory alive, you can safely keep all its belongings or you can make pet memorial items like a grave stone (more information here:, pictures, videos or maybe a beautiful garden in its name. It will give you inner peace and happiness.
  2. Stay in touch with People – Keep in touch with your friends and family. They will keep you engaged and most importantly you will be able to share your grief with them. Don’t shut yourself in a shell and make sure you talk to people around you. Otherwise you will be making your grief worse and worse and that will affect both your mental and physical health.
  3. Don’t stop eating – A lot of people make this biggest mistake. They stop eating. Don’t do that. This will only make you weal physically and mentally. It is hard to keep up with the grief but if you stop eating, that will only make it harder for you to cope with the same. It is understandable that eating seems to be the most impossible thing to do but try eating at least a small piece of bread or drink a cup of coffee or juice to keep your energy up.
  4. Get another Dog – If you want then get another dog for yourself. It is true that nothing can replace your first dog but getting another dog will keep you happy. We will suggest you to adopt one – the idea of giving shelter and love to a homeless dog is really a good one and you will also find peace in your heart to see a homeless dog being loved and getting the right shelter. It is a noble thing you will do for some other dog.

There are a lot of other ways you can cope with the grief of your lost dog. However, to deal with the pain you must be very strong and determined and you must make sure that you are doing it right. Let go off the pain and you will be feeling lively pretty soon.
